2014-02- According to Easton Police, on February 6, 2014, JoAnne Renee Fox, 58, of Easton, MD was charged with several charges relating to drinking and driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers responded to Ocean Gateway and Bartlett Avenue for an accident where one of the vehicles had left the scene.

The vehicle that left the scene was followed to a residence on Bartlett Avenue.  The investigation revealed that Fox, driving a 1994 Chrysler had failed to yield the right of way to a 2002 Ford truck being driven by Joseph Vitek of Stevensville, MD.  There were no injuries as a result of the accident , however a stop sign belonging to the State Highway Administration was knocked down.  Fox was arrested and refused to cooperate with police.  She was later released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.

2014-02-19 —- A Tulsa man was taken into custody Monday on a manslaughter charge in connection with a fatal auto-pedestrian crash late last year.

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office charged Shalake Derhone Reed, 44, on Wednesday after receiving evidence that he was driving under the influence when his pickup hit Eric Rollerson, 74, in the 5400 block of North Lewis Avenue on Dec. 29, according to court filings.

After hitting Rollerson, the 1999 Chevrolet pickup slammed into a utility pole, police said. Rollerson was pronounced dead that evening.

A 1957 alumnus of Booker T. Washington High School, Rollerson ran for mayor of Tulsa twice in the 1980s, marking the first time an African-American had run for the position, his family previously told the Tulsa World.

2014-02-19 — POMONA >> The arraignment for suspected drunken-driving crash suspect Olivia Culbreath has been postponed because the Fontana woman remains hospitalized.

Olivia Carolee Culbreath, 21, of Fontana is still at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center where her condition is unknown.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s booking records showed she was scheduled for a hearing in Pomona, but court officials on Tuesday said Culbreath hadn’t been brought to court and was not on the calendar.

No date has been scheduled for her arraignment.

Prosecutors last week charged Culbreath with six counts of murder following the Feb. 9 crash ….MORE

2014-02-19 — EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso Police Department has arrested and charged five people for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Blood Alcohol Content (BAC)= > .15 in a three hour and forty-two minute time span from late Monday to early Tuesday.

The first incident occurred at 11:03 p.m., in the 2400 block of N. Mesa when a driver was stopped for an Expired Registration and was found to be intoxicated. He was eventually charged with DWI BAC >=.15.

The second occurred at 1:28 a.m., in the 9400 block of Dyer when a driver was stopped for not using his headlights. The driver was found to be intoxicated and charged with DWI BAC >=.15.

The third happened at 2:22 a.m., on I-10 at Mile Post 28 where the driver was traveling at 93 miles per hour in a posted 60 mile per hour zone. Upon being stopped the driver was found to be intoxicated and charged with DWI BAC >=.15.

The fourth incident occurred at 2:36 a.m., in the 6300 block of Montana where the driver failed to maintain a single lane. When stopped for the traffic violation the driver was found to be intoxicated and was charged with DWI BAC >=.15.

The fifth happened at 2:45 a.m., in the 9600 block of Dyer when the driver ran a red light and was stopped for the violation. He was found to be intoxicated and charged with DWI BAC >=.15.

2014-02-19   Portland Police Bureau reports that on Tuesday February 18, 2014, at 9:51 p.m., an off-duty member of the Portland Police Bureau was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) and Reckless Driving.

Kent Scott, an off-duty officer, was arrested by Portland Police officers after a traffic stop at Southeast 148th Avenue and Division Street. After being evaluated and processed for DUII, Officer Scott was cited for Reckless Driving and DUII.

Officer Scott is a 22-year-veteran of the Portland Police Bureau and was assigned to the Transit Police Division.

Officer Scott has been placed in an off-street assignment in the Operation Support Unit pending the ongoing investigation and internal review process.

The Portland Police Bureau cannot comment further regarding ongoing personnel matters

Fatal crash in Richmond, Calif. / Richmond Police

RICHMOND, Calif. —2014-02-21 — A woman was arrested for driving under the influence early Friday morning after a horrific Richmond crash that killed her boyfriend and left two young children in critical condition, according to police.

The accident happened at approximately 1 a.m. on San Pablo Avenue near Stanton Avenue when the suspect slammed the white Buick she was driving into a tree.

According to authorities, the crash killed 39-year-old Harold Mason, Jr. The driver, 36-year-old Chanetta Flanagan and the two young children who were in the car had to be extracted by rescue crews with the “jaws of life.”

Richmond police said Flanagan was “obviously under the influence of alcohol” when officers arrived at the scene. Officers also noted there was evidence of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Police said the two children were Flanagan’s 3-year-old daughter and five-year-old niece. ….MORE

Thugs of the NFL – Redskins tight end Fred Davis fumbles a ball and may have fumbled his career

FAIRFAX, VA. — 2014-02-22 — News4 has confirmed Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been charged with DUI.

Fairfax County Police say Davis, 28, was stopped at Gallows Road and Leesburg Pike just before 4 p.m. Thursday and taken into custody.

Police have not confirmed whether Davis has been released.

He was suspended indefinitely from the NFL Wednesday for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Davis claims that this supension stems from a supplement that contained a banned substance, unbeknownst to him.

“In the past, I made the mistake of knowingly ingesting a banned substance,” he said in a statement. “For over two years, I’ve worked very hard to eliminate marijuana from my life, and I have not had a positive test for it since 2011. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago I took a supplement that contained a banned substance. I now know that supplements are not regulated by the FDA and may contain banned substances.

Davis, who failed multiple drug tests in 2011 for marijuana, is a free agent. He caught only seven passes last season and was replaced by rookie Jordan Reed.

He is the ninth Redskin to be suspended by the NFL for a drug policy violation since 2011.

MERRIMACK- 2014-02-22 — A Nashua man was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI following a fatal three-car crash on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack on Friday night, police said.
According to a release from the New Hampshire State Police, the accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. Police said a Mitsubishi 3000 GT operated by Nghia Huynh, 37, of Nashua was traveling southbound and lost control, striking the center median concrete barrier and rolled over into the northbound travel lane.
A Hyundai Sonata operated by Bernd Elsner, of Germany, was traveling northbound at the time and hit the Mitsubishi. Elsner’s car, in turn, was hit by a Ford Focus driven by Patricia Poliquin, 55, of Bradford.
Police said the impact from the Hyundai hitting the Mitsubishi resulted in the death of an identified young male passenger in Huyuh’s car. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Huynh was taken to Elliott Hospital and Poliquin was taken to Catholic Medical Center to be evaluated.
At the hospital, police said Huynh was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, a felony. ….MORE

DWI crashes are completely avoidable. Police Chief Art Acevedo says drinking and driving happens every day and night in Austin.

“I can’t tell you how many tragic scenes I’ve been to where people have needlessly lost their lives, their freedom and, in some instances, their limbs, their ability to walk and talk, because they made the choice to drink and drive,” said Acevedo.

This surveillance video is from a recent DWI crash at a south Austin 7-11.

Arrest reports show the driver, 51 year-old Dorina Sandoval, admitted to smoking a joint before driving.

It also reveals two 40 ounce bottles of Olde English malt liquor were in the backseat.

We did some research and found out Dorina Sandoval has some priors on her record-possession of a controlled substance, without a prescription and driving with an invalid license.

She pled guilty and no contest to both offenses.

Acevedo said, “We have one of the largest state universities in the country…People come here from all over the nation and the world to party and sometimes people use bad judgment.”

On December 25th, 2013, this mother did not use good judgment.

Jessica Hernandez ended up crashing her SUV into a utility pole, with her two year-old son in the backseat.

Police say she was drunk, telling officers her son was, “100 and a half” years old.

“When you look at fatal incidents, fatal crashes that again, are avoidable, DWI in this city is still playing a significant role,” said Acevedo.

This DWI crash on February 4th, took the lives of two people.

40-year-old Melissa Marshall was the driver behind the wheel.

Arrested:               Paula Torres, Hispanic female, D.O.B. 12-16-1981                         Narrative: The preliminary investigation shows that a Ford F-150 pickup was pulling into the Jack in the Box parking lot at 6133 E. Ben White Blvd. when the passenger, a Hispanic male, exited the vehicle and struck his head on the ground. He was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with DWI and has been identified as Paula Torres, Hispanic female, D.O.B. 12-16-1981.

Deceased:       Hispanic male, 39 years of age

Arrested:         Roberto Ibarra-Sandoval, Hispanic male (D.O.B. 7-9-74)                          Narrative: The preliminary investigation shows that a 1998 blue Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on the E US Highway 290 service road at a high rate of speed.  It drove up on the rear of another vehicle and took evasive action to avoid hitting that vehicle. The Expedition then left the roadway near the north curb line and came back across the roadway to the south curb line when it rolled over, ejecting the backseat passenger.

The backseat passenger died at the scene.  The front seat passenger was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford has been identified as Roberti Ibarra-Sandoval, Hispanic male, (D.O.B. 7-9-74). He is currently in custody in the Travis County Jail and charges are pending.
