BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. — A Broome County man accused of driving drunk following an early-morning crash and authorities said he just got out of jail on a previous DWI conviction.
Deputies arrested Cory Starring, 23, after responding to a two-vehicle crash on Route 17 near the Endwell exit just after four Sunday morning.

A Windsor man on parole for the deaths of five people in a 2007 Highway 101 crash was in custody Sunday involving a suspected DUI case, said Petaluma police officials.

With help from an anonymous tip, officers arrested Ryan Karr, 32, at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at the Phoenix Theater, said
Petaluma Sgt. Ken Savano.

Karr had been wanted by the law since December when he escaped from Santa Rosa Junior College officers who were investigating Karr for suspected driving under the influence.

A no-bail warrant was issued for his arrest and he has been at large since then, Savano said.

Officers found Karr at the downtown Petaluma theater where he was attending a concert.

He was arrested on the warrant and taken to the Sonoma County Jail.

Karr was sentenced to four years in prison in 2010 for the rear-end crash north of Santa Rosa that killed five people in one family.

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. –   Nearly one year after a Kentucky nurse was killed in a crash, a driver is now charged with her murder.

State police say that last September is when a dump truck driven by, Eric Jenkins, 42, of Lincoln County, crossed the center line on U.S. 62 and hit a van head-on. The driver died a few days after the crash.

It has been 10 months since a woman was killed in what state police call a DUI crash in Anderson County. On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Jenkins, charging him with her murder.

The Anderson County grand jury indicted Jenkins for murder and driving under the influence. State police tell us the crash killed Marie Garmon, 43, of Anderson County, who was a nurse at Hospice of the Bluegrass in Frankfort.

A late-night drunken driving crash sent a 26-year-old motorist to jail and wrecked a pickup truck, killing one passenger and hospitalizing two others, sheriff’s officials say.

The wreck was reported at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Cactus Avenue and Joy Street.

A silver Infiniti G35 rear-ended a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck while both were traveling east along Cactus Avenue, Sgt. Bill Guimont said in a written statement.

Killed was 45-year-old Ana Estrada, of Moreno Valley. Her two companions in the pickup truck were hospitalized with major injuries, sheriff’s investigators reported.

The man at the helm in the deadly Hudson River boat crash that killed a bride-to-be and a best man was allegedly drinking, police said.

Jojo K. John, 35, of Nyack, was arraigned in his hospital bed today on three counts of vehicular manslaughter as authorities ended the day’s search for
the body of best man Mark Lennon.
The body of a woman believed to be Lindsey Stewart, 30, was found this afternoon near the scene of the horrific crash, which flung Stewart, her
fiance Brian Bond, 35, Lennon and three others into the murky river underneath the Tappan Zee Bridge.

The future groom made it to shore but suffered a fractured eye socket. Two other men, besides John and Bond, were also hospitalized.

The joyous group left Piermont, about 25 miles north of New York City in Rockland County, late Friday and headed across the river to Tarrytown.

A crash involving a suspected drunken driver jailed in the killing of another motorist who had gotten out of his disabled car shut down lanes of the Ventura (101) Freeway in Encino on Sunday.

The 4:15 a.m. crash happened when a man got out of his disabled gray Scion for unknown reasons when he was hit by a suspected drunken driver in a white Toyota 4Runner in the slow lane of the 101 near the Balboa Boulevard off-ramp, the CHP said.

Two female passengers in the Scion were taken to hospitals — one in critical condition, the other with minor-to-moderate injuries, said Officer Leland Tang, a spokesman with the California Highway Patrol.

A female passenger in the 4Runner suffered minor injuries.

Police report that on March 9, 2013 at 7:35am Officer Guiles was dispatched to Mount Olive Road in regards to a single

car motor vehicle accident where a car collided into a utility pole. Officer Guiles made contact with

the driver of the vehicle, identified as  Tyler Nasce and he appeared to be impaired due to alcohol

consumption. Mr. Nasce was not injured from the accident and signed a refusal of medical treatment

form. Officer Guiles conducted field sobriety tests and Mr. Nasce was subsequently arrested and

transported to police headquarters. At headquarters Mr. Nasce submitted to chemical tests and was

charged with underage D.W.I., Reckless Driving, Hazardous Tires, and Failure to Maintain a Lane.

On March 10, 2013 at 2:12am Officer Gardner was patrolling Route 46 in the area of the Village

Green Mall. Officer Gardner observed a 2013 Hyundai fail to maintain a lane on multiple occasions.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle, identified as Quincy Penn

appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Officer Gardner conducted field sobriety test

and Mr. Penn was subsequently placed under arrest. During the stop Officer Gardner learned that

the passenger in the vehicle, identified as Mr. David Aguinaga had an active bench warrant out of

Ridgefield Boro Municipal Court with bail set at $645.00. Both Mr. Penn and Mr. Aguinaga were

arrested and transported to police headquarters. At headquarters Mr. Penn submitted to chemical

tests and was charged with D.W.I., Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain a Lane, and Failure to

Exhibit Documents. Ridgefield Boro was contacted and they released Mr. Aguinaga on his own

recognizance with a new court appearance. Mr. Penn was released to a sober driver and has a

pending court appearance.

On March 31, 2013 at 9:45pm the Mt. Olive Twp. Dispatch Center received a 911 call in regards to a

suspected drunk driver. Officer Carlson observed the vehicle in question, a 2007 Cadillac stopped in

the middle of the intersection of Route 46 and Naughright Road, delaying traffic. A motor vehicle stop

was conducted on Naughright Road and the driver,  Tara Vieira appeared to be impaired due to

alcohol consumption. Officer Carlson observed that there were five other occupants inside the vehicle

including her husband and four children. Officer Carlson conducted field sobriety tests and Ms. Vieira

was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters. At headquarters Ms. Vieira

refused to submit samples of her breath and was charged with D.W.I with a minor passenger, D.W.I.,

refusal to submit to breath test, reckless driving, and delaying traffic. Ms. Vieira was released to a

sober driver and has a pending court appearance.

investigate. While in the hotel parking lot, Officer Gremmo observed a 2008 GMC driving erratically

in the lot and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Michael

King appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Officer Gremmo conducted standardized

tests and Mr. King was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters. At

headquarters Mr. King submitted to chemical tests and was charged with D.W.I. and reckless driving.

He was released to a sober driver and has a pending court appearance.

Involved: (A)- Michael Happe – Budd Lake NJ – 61-M

On April 12, 2013 at 4:40pm the Mt. Olive Twp. Police Communication Center received a 911 call

regarding an erratic driver who was failing to maintain his lane on Route 46 and struck the curb

multiple times. Officer Hering was patrolling Route 46 and observed the vehicle in question, a 2011

Cadillac traveling eastbound on Route 46. Officer Hering observed the vehicle fail to maintain its lane

on multiple occasions. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at which time the driver, identified as Mr.

Michael Happe appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Officer Hering conducted field

sobriety tests and Mr. Happe was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters. At

headquarters Mr. Happe submitted to chemical tests and was charged with D.W.I., reckless driving,

and failure to maintain a lane. Mr. Happe was released to a sober driver and has a pending court

appearance.

7/20/2013, Mount Olive Police Headquarters

Officer Marianne Wurtemberg

(A)- Steven Thulin, Budd Lake NJ, Age: 47

On July 20, 2013 at 0256am Ofc Wurtemberg responded to Mt Olive Headquarters to assist with an individual who had responded to headquarters to post bail. During her conversation with the individual,  Steven Thulin, she detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. It was determined that Mr. Thulin drove himself to headquarters to post the bail. Mr. Thulin was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI. He was processed at headquarters and charged with DWI and Reckless Driving. Mr. Thulin was released to a sober driver. All charges pending a court hearing.
