U. S. Postal Service carrier Samantha Reile charged with DUI blew .25 after wreck into another mail truck in Utica NY.

11/23/2014 — According to Utica Police on Nov. 22, 2014 at around 5:00 p.m. UPD officers were called to the Pitcher St station of the U.S. Postal service for an accident. Officer spoke with a Postal Employee who was concerned about one of the employees ability to drive.

Officer learned that an employee was pulling her postal truck into a parking space when she hit another postal truck. After the accident, the employee was falling down and reportedly smelled of alcohol. Officers conducted an investigation, and during that investigation learned that the driver had a BAC of .25 %. She was charged with the following:

Utica Police report that on Nov. 22, 2014 at around 2:10 a.m. UPD Officer Detraglia was on DWI patrol when he observed a vehicle passing several cars on Lafayette St at a high rate of speed. Lafayette St is a no passing zone. He stopped the vehicl…e and during his investigation became concerned about the driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.

He conducted an investigation into his sobriety, and during that investigation found that the driver had a BAC of .16%. He was charged with the following:

(College Park, MD) – Investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division are investigating an attempted suicide after a drunk driver, involved in a car crash, was taken into police custody.

The drunk driver is not being identified at this time due to pending charges. He attempted suicide after being arrested for DUI on the scene of a car crash in Prince George’s County.  He is currently being treated at University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore.  Charges are pending for the crash, the DUI and for drug possession.

Shortly before midnight Nov. 14, 2014, a state trooper from the College Park Barrack was dispatched to a crash on the inner loop of I-495 at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.  The preliminary crash investigation indicates the arrestee was driving a 2006 Lexus passenger vehicle when he struck the rear of a vehicle traveling in front of him.  The crash injured two of the three occupants in that vehicle.

While emergency medical personnel were treating the occupants of the other vehicle, the arrestee refused medical treatment.  Due to the odor of alcohol, he was asked to perform a standardized field sobriety test.  He failed all the sobriety tests and subsequently was placed under arrest for DUI.  He was also found in possession of illegal drugs.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, the arrestee was transported to the College Park Barrack and placed in a cell while paperwork was being processed. His shoelaces and jacket were taken from him prior to being placed in the cell, where he was checked on periodically by barrack personnel.

Shortly before 5:45 a.m., one of the troopers working on the case, checked on his welfare to advise him he would soon be transported to the Office of the Court Commissioner.   At 6:00 a.m., the trooper came back to the cell to get him and found him with his sweater tied around his neck, attempting to asphyxiate himself.

The trooper immediately cut the sweater off of him and administered chest compressions to open his airways.  He began to cough and was placed in a recovery position.  Medics were called immediately and arrived at the barrack to transport him to Washington Adventist Hospital for further treatment.

He is currently being treated at Shock Trauma for his injuries as the investigation continues.

Steven D. Steelman, Jr, of Knoxville who was arrested for vehicular homicide and DUI Sunday afternoon, is in the Roger D. Wilson Facility Tuesday evening.  Judge Patricia Long upped the charge to aggravated vehicular homicide and increased his bond to $230,000.  He bonded out yesterday morning on a $39,000 bond.  He was taken into custody Tuesday around 2 p.m.

The incident occurred Sunday shortly after noon when Steelman’s car slid across West Beaver Creek hitting a utility pole and a tree.  He told officers he was attempting to avoid another vehicle.

He also stated that he had consumed approximately a half gallon of moonshine and had been consuming drugs prior to driving the car.

According to the report, he was unsteady on his feet, had watery, red blood shot eyes, a slurred speech, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and breath.  A records check showed that Steelman was driving on a revoked license for a previous DUI conviction.  He consented to a field sobriety test and officers stated that he performed poorly.  He also consented to have a sample of his blood tested for alcohol.

Steelman’s 10 year old son, Steven Steelman III, was riding in the passenger’s side of the car and was pronounced dead at U.T. Medical Center.  Steelman’s 11 year old nephew was also injured and transported to U.T. for treatment.

I know about these crashes, but to see them in such a small space or so segmented, it really brings it all home that we all have lots of work to do.”

The Ohio Highway Patrol says it too relies on identical data to determine where to perform DUI traffic stops.

A St. Petersburg man with a long criminal record of cocaine, grand theft and failing to appear to answer charges of driving without a license or registration killed a husband and wife on Thanksgiving Day and now is sitting in the Pinellas County jail on a million dollar bond.

FROM St. Petersburg Tribute ST. PETERSBURG, FL. 11/28/2014 —A St. Petersburg couple were killed on Thanksgiving after a drunk driver fleeing another afternoon crash struck the second vehicle while traveling at more than 100 mph.

Police say Douglas Simpson, 64, and his wife, 53-year-old Christina Simpson, were returning home after celebrating Thanksgiving with friends.

Anthony Apollo Neeley, 31, of Seminole faces two counts of driving under the influence-manslaughter and other charges, police said.

The fatal collision occurred at 5:35 p.m. Thursday at Central Avenue and 34th Street, police said, a major intersection in St. Petersburg.

Neeley was driving a 2003 Porsche sport utility vehicle and heading east in the outside lane of Central Avenue approaching 34th, investigators said.

Douglas Simpson was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla westbound on Central and making a left turn onto 34th.

The Porsche struck the right side of the Toyota and rolled over several times before coming to a stop, police said. The couple were killed instantly, police said.

Neeley had been fleeing another crash at Central and 58th Street that occurred moments earlier, police said. Two officers who witnessed Neeley on Central estimated his speed to be in excess of 100 mph, police said. ….MORE

Marquis Coleman double fatal in Montgomery Ala 112814

MONTGOMERY, AL (11/28/2014) – The Montgomery Police Department confirms it has charged the driver of a double-fatal Thanksgiving Day crash with felony DUI, felony leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of reckless murder in connection to the deadly crash.

Marquis Coleman, 40, of Montgomery is now being held on each charge at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

Montgomery police responded to the wreck at the intersection of Rosa Parks Avenue and West Edgemont Avenue around 1 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say Loubertha Phyfier, 78, and Marion Lewis, 62, both of Montgomery, were killed in the crash.

An initial investigation shows that Coleman’s 2007 Mazda 6 was headed south on Rosa Parks Avenue when he ran a stop sign and collided with a 2001 Infiniti I30 that was crossing the intersection east on West Edgemont Avenue. A total of four people in the Infinity were taken to an ….MORE

OLATHE POLICE HAVE   IDENTIFIED THE VICTIM IN THIS CRASH AS IDIR LOUNES

Souksvanh Christ Chamongchith of Gardner, Kansas, was ordered to surrender his passport to court officials after being charged with manslaughter in DUI fatal crash that killed a young father on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the Olathe Kansas Police Department, at 3:00 a.m. on November 27th 2014, Olathe Police Officers responded to an accident on 56 Highway at 159th Street involving two vehicles.

Initial reports indicate that one vehicle was traveling north on 56 Highway when it was struck by the other vehicle traveling west on 159th Street. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle traveling north, a 31 year old male, was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle traveling west, a 32 year old male, was not injured and was later placed under arrest. Driving Under the Influence (DUI) is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in this accident.
