From Santa Rosa’s Press Gazette
A second motorcycle accident at Hwy 90 and Smith’s Fish Camp Road in less than two weeks has left a second biker dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting Stephen Craig Hughes, 52, Milton, has been killed as the result of a drunk driver failing to yield right-of-way to the motorcyclist.

The accident happened at 3:03 Sunday morning when James Ashley McGowan, 39, Pace, was traveling west in the westbound left turn lane at Hwy 90, coming to the intersection of Smith’s Fish Camp Road, according to FHP reports. Hughes was going east in the outside eastbound lane on Hwy 90 coming to the same intersection.

Traffic Homicide Investigators with FHP say McGowan “failed to recognize” Hughes approaching and pulled in front of him. As the Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck crossed the road, the 2013 Harley Hughes was operating hit the truck, throwing him into the side of the truck.

Hughes was transported to West Florida Hospital, where he died, according to FHP. McGowan was arrested for his fourth DUI, charged with DUI manslaughter ….MORE

From Times Ledger
A 76-year-old man was hit by a car and killed in Woodhaven as he was crossing the street near his favorite coffee shop last week, and police arrested the driver on charges of drunk driving, authorities said.
Police said John Eberling was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder at about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27 as he was crossing Jamaica Avenue near the corner of 80th Street — just blocks from his home on 77th Street.
Sayful Alam, a bodega clerk at Heaven Food Mart, which is on the corner of Jamaica Avenue and 80th Street, said he saw customers rush from his store to the street after the car hit. He followed to see what had happened.
“It was really bad,” he said.
He said he saw a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood, bleeding from his ankle.
“His leg is broke,” he said. “No movement of the body.”
He said he believed the man was killed instantly, which he said was probably a blessing.
“Thank God, you know,” he said.
Cops said Eberling was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, but was pronounced dead.
