KERSHAW COUNTY, SC — 2014-02-03— A man with two prior DUI convictions was pulled over on I-20 for driving 107 miles per hour and charged with DUI, 3rd offense and open container.
According to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, officers saw Matthew Christopher Temples, 25, of Newberry weaving his blue Hyundai in and out of traffic on I-20 about 5:15 p.m. Jan. 31 at an extremely high rate of speed.
A deputy pulled Temples over and determined he was intoxicated. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said the deputy also noticed an open can of beer and a half-empty gallon vodka bottle half in the vehicle.
Temples failed a roadside test and was arrested for DUI.
Sheriff Matthews said Temples’ blood alcohol level was later determined to be .18.
A DMV records check showed Temples had two prior DUI convictions and was driving under suspension, Sheriff Matthews said.
Temples was charged with DUI, 3rd offense; DUS, 2nd offense; and open container. Temples was taken to the Kershaw County Detention Center and has been released on bond.
